Michael Berry has lived in Mount Prospect since 1991 when he and his wife Linda bought their first home. From 2006 to 2009, Berry served on the board of the district 57 Education Foundation, as chairman for the 2008-2009 school year. He was elected to the Board of Education on April 7, 2009.

Berry has worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago since 1995, where he is a researcher and managing editor of the economic development and finance publication Profitwise. He also holds a bank examiner credential. He earned a BA in political science from Susquehanna University, and an MBA degree with finance concentration from DePaul University.

Mike and Linda have two daughters: Jane is a district 57 graduate; Grace is enrolled in the district currently.
