Updated Superintendent's Message

Now that the school year is well underway, I would like to update you on how some of the changes we have made are impacting students. As you know, District 57 has had to make some tough cost-cutting decisions. Due to our District's comparatively low tax revenue base and many financial challenges brought on in large part by the tough economy, the School Board and Administration were forced to cut staff, restructure programs, increase class sizes, outsource services and raise student fees. These are changes that we had hoped to avoid.

Julie Jezuit, a Spanish teacher at Lincoln Middle School, recently was honored as a leader in the field of foreign language teaching. She received the Award for Distinguished Service to Foreign Language Learning from the Illinois Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ICTFL). The award honors Illinois educators whose exemplary teaching has provided inspiration to large numbers of foreign language students and teachers.
