Lincoln Middle School Presents the Disney Musical “Beauty and the Beast”
Lincoln Middle School will present Disney’s “Beauty
and the Beast” on Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st. Both performances will be at 7 p.m. in
the Busse Gym.
Disney’s “Beauty and the
Beast” is a tale as old as time.
The musical is about a young, heartless prince who is changed into an
ugly beast by a sorceress. He and
his enchanted staff remain locked in his castle until he can break the spell by
finding true love. Belle is a
beautiful girl who seeks adventure through reading. She is a misfit, but the handsome, but conceited, Gaston, is
enthralled with her beauty and wants to marry her. Belle’s father is an inventor, and on his way to a science
fair, he gets lost and finds himself imprisoned by the Beast. Belle offers to take her father’s place
as the Beast’s prisoner, but is soon catered to by the enchanted staff in the
castle that plots for the Beast and Belle to fall in love. Despite Gaston’s attempts to save
Belle, in the end, the spell is broken, and love unites the prince and Belle
forever.
Lincoln’s annual school musical is directed by Karrie
DeBlauw with production assistance from Karen Gadow and Ron Godby. The production includes over thirty
student cast members who auditioned for roles in late fall. Two student directors and a stage crew,
including student and parent volunteers, help change the sets and run the
lighting and sound for the shows.
The cast, crew and parent volunteers design, build and paint the sets
under the guidance of Dan and Karen Gadow. Musical accompaniment is provided by Prospect high School
musicians, local musician- parents, and Lincoln Principal Dr. Don Angelaccio. Costuming and choreography was created by Caitlin
Claytor, a junior at Prospect High School and the daughter of Director, Karrie
DeBlauw. Disney’s “Beauty and the
Beast” will be performed on April 20th and April 21st at 7 p.m. and is open to
the public. Tickets are available
at the door for $5 for adults and $3 for children from 6:15-7 p.m. For additional information, please contact Sandy
