Oct. 27: Metrics update

October 27th, 2020

A Message from Your Superintendent

We have updated our return-to-school metrics and you can find them on the District 57 website at this link. A blue box is drawn around the metric that applies to where we currently fall within each category. There has been a lot of discussion about rising COVID-19 cases in our communities and nationwide, and we continue to monitor this data through our external metrics. Additionally, we will consider our internal metrics, which include COVID clusters within our schools, staffing capacity and PPE/disinfectant supplies on hand. We will carefully consider the overall picture of this data and provide elementary families with an email confirmation on Monday, November 2 regarding our elementary hybrid model beginning, as planned, on Monday, November 9.

Second trimester class and teacher assignments were emailed to elementary families yesterday. Great efforts were made to honor families’ preferences related to their child’s placements; however, we realize some families did not receive the hybrid session of their choice. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility.

Lincoln enrollment forms are due by Thursday, October 29 at midnight. Lincoln families should check their spam folders if they haven’t received the email. It is important that we hear from everyone by the deadline so we can move forward with assigning students and staff.

We are confident in the planning and safety procedures in place to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission in our schools, and we remain cautiously optimistic that students who are selecting hybrid learning can be back in the buildings in a safe way very soon.
