A Message from Your Superintendent

October 25th, 2019

October is National Principals Month, and today is Principal Appreciation Day in Illinois. We in District 57 are celebrating – because we have some of the best principals and assistant principals in the state! Please join me in recognizing and thanking Dan Ophus and Una Durkan at Fairview, Katie Kelly and Danielle Bielenda at Lions Park, Paul Suminiski and Randy Steen at Lincoln, and Kristin Vonder Haar and Karl Anderson at Westbrook.

These administrators are outstanding leaders of their schools. They work hard to develop personal connections with many of the students they serve, as well as the staff, and they are committed to making a positive impact on everyone in their school communities every single day. They have a great deal of educational expertise and vision, as they work to improve opportunities and outcomes for all our students. In addition, they partner with and support the PTOs in their many efforts to enhance student learning and fun.

I’m thankful that we have innovative principals and assistant principals who help make our District and schools be the best they can possibly be – and I know you are as well. So please, if you see them today (or any day), tell them thanks for all they do!
