School Board Members Day
Today has been designated as School Board Members Day in Illinois, and District 57 is joining districts across the state to thank its seven School Board members for their commitment and contributions.
Our School Board members are volunteers who devote countless hours to help make our schools the best they can be. Their oversight guides the District. They make difficult decisions on complex issues that affect individual students and the entire community.
Each year, the demands placed on School Boards become greater. School Districts face daunting financial difficulties and are responsible for helping to prepare students for a 21st-century global economy. Our Board members come from many different backgrounds. Some have children in the District, and some do not. But they all have done an excellent job of learning the issues and meeting the challenges head on.
Our community is fortunate to have these dedicated individuals volunteering their time. That's why today we recognize and thank Karen Nejdl (president), Sann Knipple (vice president), Dennis Composto, Eileen Kowalczyk, John Krupa, Joseph Leane and Joe Sonnefeldt.
Our School Board members contribute to many of the innovative programs and services that prepare students and enhance their education. To learn about some of these things, as well as issues affecting our District, please be sure to read the fall issue of our newsletter, which was emailed to parents last week. You can find it at this link. And if you see School Board members around town, please remember to thank them for all they do!
