A Message from Your Superintendent
November 15th, 2019
Today we join school districts around Illinois in celebrating School Board Members Day! We in District 57 are proud to be part of this statewide recognition of the men and women who volunteer so much of their time to our district and our schools.
There are nearly 6,000 elected school board members throughout the state, and they play an essential role in their communities. The Illinois Association of School Boards has declared that the theme of this year’s School Board Members Day is “Transform Vision into Reality.” I believe that’s especially fitting for District 57, as our Board members work with the District to positively influence finances, curriculum, technology, safety and other vital areas. They do this by spending countless hours learning about complex educational and financial issues so they can make well-informed decisions. They also participate in Board meetings, respond to community feedback and questions, take advantage of professional development opportunities, and attend many school and Mount Prospect events. We can all be thankful that they are so dedicated to the major responsibilities that come with serving as a School Board member.
So please join me in recognizing the seven community members who serve on the District 57 School Board: Eileen Kowalczyk (president), Vicki Chung (vice president), Kimberly Fay, Jennifer Kobus, Brian Maye, Gerald McCluskey and Rachael Rothrauff. If you see them around town this weekend, be sure to thank them for all they do!
Dr. Elaine Aumiller
