Dear District 57 Families,
Last Sunday, I communicated that there was a change in the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding the length of quarantine for students and staff, and referenced in the forthcoming guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Earlier this week, this guidance
was released, as well as this FAQ
which provides additional clarity. Since receiving this new information, our district has been working to implement necessary changes and continue to safely provide in-person learning. Please take some time to review the D57 Safety and Operations Guidance
, which has been updated to reflect the changes from IDPH/ISBE. Although not a comprehensive list, below are some important items being implemented:
- Individuals who have tested positive for COVID will be required to isolate for at least 5 days following the start of symptoms or test date if asymptomatic.
- Individuals identified as a close contact will be required to quarantine for 5 days following the last date of exposure. See pages 20-21 of the ISBE Guidance to review the definition of a close contact.
I want to thank our entire staff for their extra efforts to manage changes and work to keep students at school. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership.
In the spirit of education,
Dr. Mary Gorr
