Dear District 57 Families,
Before our spring break gets underway, I have several updates to share:
Lincoln principal Paul Suminski will be resigning after the end of this school year. Board members accepted his resignation at their meeting last night. We are thankful to Paul for his service and leadership at Lincoln, and we wish him all the best. I am beginning the process of finding a new Lincoln principal and will have more details after the break. In the meantime, I want to offer families the chance to provide input about characteristics they would like to see in the next Lincoln principal or any other ideas about the search. If your child will attend Lincoln next year or in the future and you wish to share your thoughts as we begin this process, visit this link
. Please respond by Tuesday, March 29.
Also, at last night’s meeting, Chris Lettow officially joined the School Board. Board members voted to approve his appointment, and President Eileen Kowalczyk swore him in. As I announced in my message last week, the Board conducted several interviews before selecting Chris to fill the open position. He will serve until the next general election in April 2023, when his seat will be added to the ballot for a two-year term. Please join me in welcoming Chris to the School Board and thanking him for stepping up to serve District 57 and our community!

Last night’s Board meeting included discussions about the curriculum review schedule and professional development and the passage of the FY23 Preliminary Staffing Plan. You can find information about each of these things in the Board public packet at this link.
I hope all of our D57 families have a wonderful spring break! We look forward to seeing the students again when school resumes on Monday, March 28!
In the spirit of education,
Dr. Mary Gorr
