Dear District 57 Families,
We look forward to welcoming back students and staff on Monday, January 3, 2022. The rising number of COVID-19 infections in our community is a concern. The Centers for Disease Control released new guidance on December 27 regarding isolation for positive COVID cases and quarantine for close contacts. However, because the Illinois Department of Public Health has since clarified that schools should continue to follow the guidelines established by the State of Illinois Executive Orders at the start of the school year, there are no changes to the District 57 Covid protocols, which you can access on the D57 COVID-19 Information webpage
Keeping our classrooms open to in-person learning while also working as hard as possible to provide a safe and healthy learning environment continues to be our priority. Next week, District 57 will resume its optional SHIELD testing program, which is a key part of our defense in preventing an outbreak at school. We encourage all students, whether vaccinated or not, to test on a weekly basis. If your child is currently not enrolled in weekly SHIELD testing, and you would like them to begin participating, please contact your child’s principal. If you need to report your child’s current, positive COVID-19 diagnosis, COVID-19 symptoms, or an exposure to a positive case, please contact your child’s nurse.
Wishing you a safe and healthy new year.
In the spirit of education,
Dr. Mary Gorr
