Master Facilities Plan

MASTER FACILITIES PLAN

The Board of Education hired STR Architects to complete a comprehensive 10-Year Facilities Master Plan. The plan was compiled with input from specialists in mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems; civil engineering; demographics; roofing; and building security. The firm collected input on learning environments and priorities for improvements from staff in spring 2024.

The Facilities Master Plan was presented to the Board of Education in July 2024. It recommends a total of $21.3 million of potential building needs for the four school and a total of six buildings over 10 years in the areas of accessibility, life safety, operation and maintenance, and capital improvements. Below are highlights of the plan, but the plan is flexible as needs of the buildings will change from year to year.

10-Year maintenance plan - $21.3 million

The district reviewed and prioritized projects based on safety and security, age and condition, health and life safety, and the building ‘envelope’—ensuring the structures remain sound and functional. The projects total $21.3 million, including:
  • District-wide roofing: $5,635,000
  • HVAC (boilers, chillers, Rooftop Units, air handlers, Univents, condensers), fire protection, electrical, and plumbing needs at Lincoln: $4,121,000
  • HVAC, fire protection, electrical, and plumbing needs at all other buildings: $6,349,000
  • Exterior work (tuckpointing, ADA-compliant exterior entry doors, concrete repairs): $1,531,700
  • Interior work (painting, plumbing, caulking, window repair/replacement): $3,638,880
These projects are critical to maintaining safe, efficient, and welcoming facilities for our students and staff.

facilities needs by building

Each of our district’s buildings plays a vital role in delivering quality education in a safe, comfortable environment. However, as our facilities age and new standards emerge, repairs, replacements, and upgrades become necessary to ensure that these buildings continue to meet the needs of our students, staff, and community. The following section provides some of the specific needs at each of the five district-operated buildings, highlighting critical areas such as structural integrity, safety, accessibility, and functionality. This thorough evaluation allows us to prioritize projects that will extend the life of our facilities, enhance learning environments, and align with the long-term vision of our district.
